POSITION TITLE : Chief Mechanical Engineer
Our client is the world’s largest uranium supplier, supplying almost 20% of global uranium demand. Its mining and converting facilities in North America supply fuel for nuclear power plants. Growing demand for electricity and concern over greenhouse gas emissions is renewing interest in nuclear power as a clean, reliable and affordable resource. Our client’s Corporate office is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and they are seeking a seasoned Chief Mechanical Engineering to be responsible for providing the recognized design capacity to ensure protection of the public in a given technical discipline and providing depth of management and oversight capability for engineering done within the company and companies providing engineering services to our client. Our client is looking for a strong leader to ensure the capital projects are executed with engineered business solutions that consider risk appropriate constraints of safety, environment, cost, schedule, resources, functionality, operability, maintainability, and constructability. This Chief Mechanical Engineer will be the “go to” person, setting design criteria and acting as second in command to the Manager Engineering. Reporting into the Manager Engineering, the Chief Mechanical Engineer’s responsibilities include: • Providing design approval and oversight • Providing engineered solutions detailed enough to enable accurate business decisions for the commitment of resources to develop detailed designs for Major Projects. The scope includes the design, options assessment and thorough methodical assessment and mitigation of risk, safety, environmental and other impacts. • Providing design solutions including preliminary and detailed design, procurement of high risk equipment and materials, and project risk assessments. Included is scope, schedule and cost development for these engineering services. Also included is project engineering coordination of these services and deliverables and provision of project management on specialty technical investigation projects during the feasibility phase. Adhering to the published standards that address the requirement of key stakeholders and current industry practices for engineering work in all of the company. This includes existing documentated (drawings) designs, design criteria, constructions specifications, standard desigh details and construction inspection checsheets. These are based on design experience, existing finctional desighns, and application of codes, standards and legislated acts. REQUIREMENTS: • 15 or more years of experience in design of projects in mining and milling process industries with progressive design and supervisory roles in an engineering design office • Minimum 5 years experience in a management or supervisory role • Must be committed to quality over schedule • Must have superior communication skills • Proven success leading a team in a collaborative manner • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering • Must be a Professional Engineer registered in the Province of Saskatchewan or be eligible for registration Thank you for your interest in this opportunity.
