One of our clients, a globally established player in the oil & gas industry, is looking to strengthen its logistics and supply chain department. Our client provides exploration and exploitation products and services to various oil & gas clients worldwide working in established oil and gas fields from the North Sea to the Middle East as well as in newer sites in Southeast Asia and Africa.

Their goal:

In order to provide their customers with goods and services at excellent levels of cost, quality and speed, our client is changing their entire supply chain and logistics department. More concretely, they are currently sourcing in all their supply chain activities. In the context of this transformation, the company is creating logistic hubs all over the world and is developing one of the most advanced supply chains in existence, with state-of-the-art systems and capabilities.

To support their strategy, our client wants to reinforce their hub in Rotterdam by hiring innovative and dynamic people. In order to strengthen their Strategic Hub Network, our client seeks an innovative and dynamic Sourcing Analyst who will be based in Rotterdam (The Netherlands).

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The Sourcing Analyst works in conjunction with other supply chain personnel to analyze company and industry trends in key categories, supplier groups and performance. Based on this analysis he communicates business and strategic procurement opportunities and recommends action plans to maintain the company's position in strategic supply chain.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To systematically collect supply chain data from various sources and present them in a format that allows making effective business decisions;
  • To thoroughly analyze the supply chain data, identify business, strategic supply chain and performance opportunities and recommend action plans to Sourcing Lead, Product/Service Lines and 3rd parties;
  • To research advanced supply chain practices and performance and benchmark companies in relevant peer groups;
  • To support several product/service categories as directed by Category Leadership;
  • To stay involved in all strategic supply chain initiatives to give guidance and support and to contribute to planning and implementation of improvement actions with users and suppliers;
  • To be involved in audits and negotiation with suppliers and preparation of contracts;
  • To provide direction and leadership to less experienced analysts (depending on experience).

Profile

  • Completion of a Bachelor or Master degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or similar discipline;
  • Preferably 3 to 5 years of experience in category related goods and services in two or more of the following roles: Procurement or Manufacturing, Technology or Engineering, Product/Service Line or Operations. Experience in Oil and gas and/or chemical industry is an asset;
  • Experience in data management, market analysis and strategic cost modelling;
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (macro’s, pivot tables …). Knowledge of MS access or other relational databases is welcome;
  • Experience with an ERP program. Exposure to SAP (R/3, Business Warehouse) is a plus;
  • A Strong Process and analytical mindset; commercial skills are preferable;
  • Possession of a professional Supply Chain certificate is an asset;
  • Excellent communication in English (spoken & written).
